Portraits, Pottery & Imperfection

I’m an artist and lifestyle portrait photographer obsessed with life’s imperfect edges. My camera led me to publish Made in Brooklyn and Canines of New York—love letters to the characters and creatures that animate this city. I thrive on capturing people as they are, tangled in their own settings, inviting us all to see past the polished and into the real.

As my daughter packed for college, I shifted my creative energy from lens to clay. Hand-building pottery became a meditation on time, earth, and reclamation. When I am not making my own pieces, I like to take nearly finished pieces I find on their way to landfills and give them new purpose using underglazes and traditional glazing techniques. My work reflects my ever-evolving vision, where I strive to incorporate sustainability and political messaging themes into my art, making it not just a form of expression but also a means of engaging with the issues that matter to us all. The work is how I wrestle with the absurd and still find cause to smile.

In a world tipping toward the bleak, joy feels like rebellion. Through portraits and pottery, I hope to spark connection and celebrate the strange, wonderful mess of it all.
